Back to resourcesChecklistThe Complete Website Launch Checklist
Launching a website is exciting — and easy to rush. This is the exact checklist I run through before taking any client site live, so nothing important slips through the cracks. Bookmark it, print it, and tick each item off.
Content & design
- All pages have final, proofread copy (no “lorem ipsum” left).
- Logo, brand colors and fonts are consistent across every page.
- High-quality images, properly sized and compressed.
- Clear calls-to-action on every key page.
- Contact details, address and business hours are correct.
Technical
- Site works on mobile, tablet and desktop.
- HTTPS / SSL is active (the padlock shows).
- All links and buttons work — no broken links or 404s.
- Contact forms send and you receive the emails.
- Favicon and browser tab title are set.
- Fast loading — check Core Web Vitals and compress anything heavy.
SEO & tracking
- Every page has a unique SEO title and meta description.
- One clear H1 per page and a logical heading structure.
- XML sitemap created and submitted to Google Search Console.
- robots.txt is correct and the site is set to be indexed.
- Google Analytics (GA4) and Search Console are connected.
- Open Graph / social preview tags are in place.
Before you flip the switch
- Take a full backup of the site.
- Set up redirects from any old URLs to the new ones.
- Test checkout / booking / key flows end to end.
- Proofread one final time on the live URL.
After launch
- Submit the new sitemap and request indexing in Search Console.
- Monitor analytics and forms for the first few days.
- Claim or update your Google Business Profile.
- Schedule regular backups, updates and security checks.
